The 40:40 Principle is a simple, easy-to-implement plan that will provide you with an ongoing source of wisdom and the encouragement necessary for success in today’s fast-paced and competitive environment. It will result in greater effectiveness at work and at home.

In fact, I believe that one of the keys to the success of the 40:40 Principle is its simplicity: if you’re under forty years of age, you should seek to gain wisdom from someone over forty, and if you’re over forty, you should seek to gain wisdom from someone under forty. Both groups offer unique vantage points and wisdom. Someone over forty can share the wisdom he or she has gained from experience but also stands to benefit from a younger take on life—if for no other reason than to avoid getting set in his or her ways and out of touch with the next generation.

“Most people have powerful connections. Very few people have harnessed the power of their connections.”—Jeffrey Gitomer

In this book, I’ll explain how the 40:40 Principle can help you move beyond simply being linked, and connect with people who will share the kind of personal wisdom, encouragement, and support needed for success in today’s fast-paced and competitive environment. I call these people “strategic advisors.”

Strategic Advisor: Someone who possesses wisdom and the courage to speak and act on the truth and who will come alongside and support you. This person is also usually an expert in a particular subject or area.
